camel rides at the zoo

for the past year, every time we go to the zoo otho begs me to ride the camels.

"it costs too much money," i am always telling him.

"how much money?" (this is something he asks me ALL the time for EVERYTHING)

"five whole dollars," i respond.

yes, five dollars is a lot of money...especially when all they do is sit on a stinky camel and walk around in a little circle. but, i had a coupon to ride the camel - buy one get one free. and i can't let a coupon go to waste, even if it only saves me $5.

so on saturday, at 7 am we went to the zoo. it was already near a 100 degrees (why do i live in arizona again?). remember, i am nine-freaking months pregnant and can barely walk, but we went to the zoo to use this coupon before it expires at the end of the month.

otho was elated. it was like christmas morning, he was so excited to ride the camel. abe, not so much, but with some coaxing, he got up on that stinky camel. and i think they even had a good time - worth my $5, maybe.

notice how abe is clinging on for dear life. otho is having the time of his life.

here's a camel fact: camels can go 2 weeks without drinking water. i'm lucky to go two minutes without having to go to the bathroom!

another camel fact: a camels hump stores it's food. i have two humps on my backside that store my food. i just wish they'd go away!

so now, maybe, when we go to the zoo otho won't pester me to ride the camels anymore. but really, i'm glad we had this experience.

now it's time for bed...tomorrow we wake up early and have a baby. i am more than ready, and i am actually a little excited. pray for us that everything comes out healthy and strong...i'll keep you posted soon here about baby #4.
