i failed

this whole tv thing was making my life really lonely when ken was working late into the night. but i persevered through tuesday. but then, by wednesday, i weakened. i cracked. i failed.

i must set a disclaimer that my failure was mostly, in due part, from the fact that whilst cuddling with ellie to get her to sleep and pretending to sleep myself, i had a moment quiet. i took that opportunity to the plot details of novel #2. i haven't worked on novel #2 since before christmas but have been chewing on (that means thinking about) parts of the book for awhile now. and while in that little toddler bed with my munchkin (who was only pretending to sleep also...and now you can see how devious she is that she will pretend to sleep so she can cuddle with her mommy) everything in book #2 just suddenly, poof, came together.

and then, i just HAD to write. i've written 3 chapters so far and, if i say so myself, they are very awesome. don't you wish you could read them? well, too bad, you can't. not until some publisher slaps it together into a book and people start standing in line screaming for more books as the fans of "twilight" have done. but my novel will be better written than "twilight" - i promise you that.

and since i have been a mad-frantic-stay-up-all-night-to-finish-my-chapter writing woman, i have let the tv be the babysitter. i know. sad. but some things are more important than unobtainable goals...like apeasing my creative artsy side (mom's are people too!).

i think i'll reinstate the whole "not watching tv" goal in two weeks, during spring break. "are you crazy?" you are asking. why yes. but i really did enjoy no tv for my kids for the following reasons:

1. otho's rudenss suddenly disappeared and didn't resurface until after he watched tv on wednesday. coincidence? i think not. and otho's rudenss was my #1 reason for the tv blackout in the first place.

2. my kids have played outside and in their room WITHOUT FIGHTING. that's right, people, no fights. nada. nilch. nothing.

3. never, ever did my boys ask to watch tv. (they were too busy playing together without fighting).

4. we read so many more books together and the house just felt more peaceful.

so these are the terms and conditions i would like to spend spring break with: one. big. happy. family. and to acheive that, i will blackout the tv once again. just to feed my insanity.

that is, unless i am still writing. in that case, bring on the wii!

I would love to read your books! They sound so interesting. Good for you for going so long without tv!
