no tv and no husband makes myra go something something something...

for all you non-simpson's fanatics, my title quotes homer from the "shinin'" episdode, that parodies "the shining" in which episode homer goes crazy without tv and beer.

today is day one with no tv in the johnson household. boy what a day it has been. i never knew i was so addicted to tv until i tried to go an entire day without it. sad. i know.

a few thoughts about my progres thus far:
1. never make a goal like this when your husband needs to work past the kids bedtimes every evening because he has a huge project that has to be done by thursday, and thus creates 'single mom syndrome'. same goes for making such goals when the baby (in this case, riley) is getting four upper teeth, and thus cries if she is not being held.

2. when baby is teething and husband isn't home, and witching hour approaches, it is really, really, REALLY hard not to give in and turn on blessed pbs. oh, how i haved mourned for you today, pbs. you are missed.

3. since abe couldn't watch tv, or play wii games, or play on the computer for that matter, he pulled out the mario galaxy instruction guide to read. i flipped through the booklet when he was done... that a bad idea. after learning some fun moves for my mario, i ACHED to play the wii. yes, i am addicted. i can't talk about it too long, or else i will want to go play.

4. time moved a lot slower today, which was nice since i needed to get a lot of cleaning done. still have a lot to do, but got a ton done!

5. i will cheat. ken said i can watch tv while i do my running/walking for the wii. which means: you better believe i will be walking in place the ENTIRE hour of lost on wednesday. it can't be helped. i must watch lost, and i will burn calories whilst i watch. it's a win-win situation!

here's to one day down, and six more to go.

I can't imagine going without tv or internet for more than 24 hours! I admire your strength!

You can do this! It's a great idea and you know it - remember when we did this growing up? Is it harder now?
