i can't believe i have a 7-year-old

otho is getting too old, too fast. last month he turned the big seven. we had a LEGO birthday party for otho, and invited over a few friends.

we started off the evening by giving all the kids a small lego set to complete. there's nothing that will keep a young boy more focused and quiet then a lego set.

ken went around the table and helped all of the kids put the legos together. this would be tedious for me, but for ken, he was in heaven. fun fact: did you know that a 30-year-old man = a 7-year-old boy when it comes to loving legos? it's true.

the quiet concentration didn't last long. as soon as we pulled out the pizza the kids got crazy wild and for the next hour, it was hard to hear over the loud screams and laughter.

after pizza the boys piled into the living room. we had a bionicles movie for them to watch, but they wanted to put together more legos. so we pulled out our three buckets worth of castle legos (yes, that's right, just castle. we have a crazy amount of legos). the boys spent the next hour putting together castles and catapults and ships.

otho and caleb working together.

abe, cole and riley building their castle. well, riley was more just sitting and trying to piece together legos. but she loves legos too, and just got out of her eating the lego stage. very nice.

after the movie was over, we sang happy birthday and had cake. it was a great evening, and we had so much fun with our friends.

on another note...before otho's birthday he asked me, "mom, am i old enough to have breakfast in bed for my birthday?" of course he was! so we made waffles (his favorite) and sausage (which he didn't eat) for breakfast.

looking back...

one of my favorite pictures of little baby otho, at about three weeks old. wow, has my little baby grown. now, otho is looking forward to being baptized next year, and going to cub scouts. my my my, how the time flies.

i love you otho!

We love having Otho over to our house. He's such a great kid, and I LOVE his sense of humor. He cracks me up!
