instead of doing a year-long resolution, this year i am doing month long resolutions. our bishop spoke a few months ago about getting rid of things in our lives. so this is the year to get rid of things, even if only for a month. and sometimes i will be trying something new and challenging.
these are my january goals:
1. go vegetarian. AH! no meat. i will still be able to have milk, cheese, eggs, and fish. this doesn't seem to hard (i hope). it does mean i can't run to mcdonalds for a quick hamburger dinner. or make a roast with no vegetables and count that as a sunday meal.
2. no tv. so i've already botched this and it's not even noon. ken had the football game on. this will be hard, but i can still watch movies and play the wii with the kids. and yes, this counts for the kiddos too...although they don't know that mom won't turn the tv on for them. goodbye tv, hello beautiful arizona winter weather outside.
3. run 2 miles. without stopping. i'm not a long-distance runner by any means, but i have another triathlon to prepare for in may, so this is the start of getting ready for that.
these are my month-long goals. i'll let you know how they go. and i might fail miserably. and i am giving myself one cheat day in the month (hello, julia and julia party? you have to bring you best recipe so we can all eat it...that will be my cheat day).
any good vegetarian recipes out there? send them my way. any good books to entertain me while the tv stays off? i need some help, friends, to get me through this month.
only 31 days to go...and counting.

if you like Dan Brown (DaVinci code, etc.) check out The Lost Symbol. it's a good read. do homemade guacamole and fried tortilla chips for a snack/meal. YumMY!!! Good luck with your resolutions - they are good ones!!
A Julie/Julia party? I'm so there.
If you need any tofu recipes, let me know. I love tofu and my kids don't complain too much either! Pad Thai is your friend. Shrimp Pad Thai is even better.
Oh, we have a copy of The Lost Symbol if you want to borrow.
