just a little/lot o' bit of crazy

i'm a goal setter, list maker, organize my brain until i ach-er. and the past two months of monthly goals has been a lot of fun...yes i know. i'm a little bit of crazy. i have found that when i set my mind to do something, i can almost always do it.

even if that something is an insane month without chocolate.

i never thought i could go a month without tasting chocolaty goodness, because let's admit it girls, it's hard to go a day without scouring the house for a quick afternoon/after dinner fix. chocolate candies, cake, ice-cream, brownies, milk, fudge dripped serendipitously into my mouth...i am getting a sugar craving at just the idea.

but i did it. granted, my "cheat day" practically gave me a chocolate coma, and week three saw some mighty fine chocolate cravings. but i resisted. i prevailed. and i won.

today is march 1st, and i am free from my chocolate jail. i went over to see's candies and ordered myself a 1/2 pound box of truffles. for me. only me. i opened the box as soon as i sat my tush in the van and i took a bite.

guess what?

i was done.

i didn't want/need any more. yes, that is a crazy notion, not to pop an ENTIRE truffle into my mouth.

even as i sit here, those chocolates are next to me, and i am still not eating them. not a one. i have an odd feeling that i am over my chocolate obsession. can this be true? was one month of fasting from chocolate all i needed to rid myself of a life-time addiction? phwahaha, i highly doubt it. but it's working...for now.

(on a side note: one reason for starting this whole "quitting food for a month at a time" ordeal was because, let's face it, i am so sick of dieting. after one year of working out and counting calories only to lose a meager 10 pounds, i was sick of the stress. i am hoping that indirectly this odd "diet" of mine will help me lose weight. just so you know, it hasn't. after the no-meat thing, i gained 5 pounds. then i lost it, and now i am at my all-time low since ellie. but no stress...the end goal isn't just to lose weight, it's to learn self-control.)

as for my second goal of facebook...i don't even need to grace it with more than this: i could live without facebook and be just fine. (the same can't be said for chocolate).

and my third goal...running 3 miles in 30 minutes. february was plighted with a myriad of distractions that kept me from the gym, and no, i didn't complete this goal. tried today but only made it half-way. guess what. i'll try again tomorrow, and the day after and so on...until i make it.

and finally, my march goals:

1. no flour. none. and with this sacrifice, a few pounds better fly away, because i would rather not eat meat or chocolate than suffer without warm, delicious bread.

2. go to bed by 10:30. i am a night owl and i tend to stay up past midnight. lately i've been getting insomnia. i hope by giving myself a set bedtime i will overcome this insomnia, sleep more, and be a happier person. down side: ken is traveling most of march for job interviews, and i can never sleep when he's away.

3. hold 3 plank positions for at least a minute. if you've tried a plank, you know how hard this is. good luck to me. my arms are already trembling with anticipation/dread.

only 31 days to go.

I can't tell you how impressed I am with you!!! I really think I would have a hard time with goals as big as the ones you make for yourself - In fact, I'm sure I wouldn't even set such big goals for fear of having to accomplish them!!!
But I do feel inspired by you, so I am going to start to set little goals (very little by comparison) and work on them every month!!! Today is the first - best time to start!!!
Good luck on March!!!

K, elaborate on the plank thing cause I don't even know what that is....and NO FLOUR???!?!!? What are you THINKING?!?!?!? Isn't that like a staple of life or something?! Come on My, now white flour I could see...
you are seriously inspiring me to try a month with no desserts...maybe i'll wait to see how your flour thing turns out first. Great job with the chocolate woman...I'm impressed :)

I've been working out for two months and I think somehow I've gained weight... Brandon says its because I stress too much about being fatter.
He says I need to think "skinny"
pah!

Anyway I'll try that no chocolate thing maybe for three days.. I hear you just need to get over that hump.
I thought I could just exercise and not care about what I ate, but alas that has not worked..sigh

Hahaha... Myra, I love you!

My favorite part of that post? "Only 31 days to go." Ha! That was awesome.

So, it's your 3rd day w/o flour. How's that working for you? I'm intrigued.
