Ken's First Half Marathon

My super handsome amazing husband ran a half marathon. I cannot even begin to say how great this was for him! Years ago, Ken started running, lost a lot of weight, and has made tons of changes to being a very healthy person. He is an inspiration!

Pre-race. The half marathon followed the bay. The weather was a perfectly cool 60 degrees, and it was cloudy, like it was going to rain - but it never did. You couldn't get better running weather.

Waiting, waiting, waiting for the race to start.

While Ken was running, we sat around and waited for a LONG time. Otho was at a scouting hike, so the rest of us walked around. We saw the gulls on the bay (Cora is obsessed with birds), we went to all the vendors, and we played on the playground.

Abe spent the morning reading in different places. Every time I turned around, his nose was in his kindle e-reader.

 See what I'm talking about!?!

This tired girl usually naps every morning for 3 hours. Oh, but not this morning. Granted, she stayed relaxed in her stroller, and was a perfect baby (as always).

At 1 hr 30 minutes, we made our way to the finish line. Ken wasn't sure when he'd finish, but he was hoping for about 1 hr 45 minutes. Look at that time. 1 hr 46 minutes. A personal record!

The course was not paved, and Ken's feet hurt from running on his FiveFingers. But otherwise, it was a great race. Aside from his feet, he felt great after the run, and still had energy to play with the kids for the rest of the day.

I really am the luckiest woman in the world to have this man in my life. Love you forever, Ken.
