the drive was wonderful beautiful and truly displays how spectacular the world is, with red rocks jutting skyward and pinetrees laced with snow. we enjoyed the time together and the 10 hour drive did not feel long, seeing as we have 3 kids 5 and under.
we spent the first day at byu, walking around with amber, baby wes, sarah, whitney (shown here with ellie), and marc. tons of changes have occurred at byu since we graduated, and the undergrads looked so young. wow, we are getting old! the most fun was playing with the science toys in the eyring science building, and eating creamery ice-cream. i have to admit, the j-dogs sure hit the spot for my growing pregnant belly!
on sunday we went to grandma brooke's house with the carlsruh clan. the weather was absolutely perfect, and we all enjoyed playing outside. ken brought a football, and we enjoyed tossing it around in grandma's backyard.
i caught these pictures of abe and loved the two looks. i couldn't decide which was better. you decide.
despite the mud on her knees, ellie looks like a princess.
amber and wes.
and another picture of baby wes. he is just too cute for words!
sarah dressed up ellie in this "ensemble," for lack of a better word. we always spent our time at g-ma's house playing dress-up, so i think it's cute that my daughter did that too.
when i asked the boys what's at grandma brooke's house, they immediately replied: lots of soda, lots of candy. a little room for little kids with lots of toys. and horses. they were absolutely right. the fridge is stuffed full of candy and soda, there is a small attic with lots of toys, and grandma does have horses in the back, which we enjoyed feeding some old carrots. otho was very brave and let the horse eat right out of his hand, although once the carrot went up the horse's nose, and it jumped back suddenly, frightening all of us.
for anyone who knows ken, knows he loves aquariums. he really should have been a marine biologist. when sarah told him there was a new aquarium in sandy, we just had to go there. now, personally, my experience with aquariums inland is not very good, they are more like pet stores. but this aquarium, i must admit, was awesome. so much fun. for all you utah people, go go go with your kids. there is a play area for small kids to explore and pretend they are sea-creatures living in cave, such as cousin davey, a shark, swimming in this small cave.
ken and the boys had so much fun that we'll probably go again on our next visit.
abe and davey had fun playing in the caves. abe was an octopus, and davey a shark, and as we all know, those are common enemies, and fight. i'm not sure if davey knew what was going on when abe tried wrestling with him in the caves.
otho's favorite thing was touching all the sea life they had for display. he is very interactive, and enjoys learning new things with his dad. they touched pricky things, squishy things, and starfish too. it was so much fun. for anyone interested in going, the website is: thelivingplanet.com
we had such a fun trip in utah, and enjoyed seeing all of our family. it was a perfect trip, and although we are sad to be gone, it is nice to be home again.

Yay! I love all the updates My! Good job, the pics of your kids are great!
I don't recall getting a call from you telling me you were in town...I'm offended!! I know, I know you were busy.
i wish we could have visited you, brooke. we were only there a few days, and believe me, i thought of you as we drove past lehi. but we weren't even able to visit ken's aunt and uncle due to the lack of time. trust me, though, we'll be back. we're ALWAYS back.
