trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat

i've learned a new lesson in parenting: if you teach your children something you thought was funny when you were a kid, they are bound to think it is funny too. where's the problem in this? simple. things that were funny to me as a kid just so happened to deal with poops, farts, or buttocks (admit it, you're smiling inside, because the kid in you is thinking "ha ha, she said poop.").

well, thought it was funny to teach my kids "trick-or-treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat." yeah, i did. and now, they sing it ALL the live-long day. in fact, the other day, ellie was in bed, and while she was falling asleep, she was singing that song. sure, i could have taught them "i am a child of god" but no, i had to go and give them the funny songs. well, at least i have the solace that christmas is around the corner and i know better than to teach them "jingle bells, batman smells, robin laid an egg..."

what was that? it's too late? they already know that song? well, at least valentines day doesn't have a song i can butcher. or does it?

a few pictures of the johnson family trick-or-treating halloween night:

a ninja abe and a zombie otho. who would win in a fight? abe would be hidden since he's a black ninja and can hide in the shadows, so the zombie couldn't get him. but then, if abe did attack the zombie, then the zombie could eat the limbs as they attack him. hmmm...what a philosophical debate. this can be deep stuff, people (so we should all be like descartes and stay in bed until noon to meditate on the philosophical things in life like if a zombie could beat a ninja in a fight. i fight, therefore i am... oh yeah, tangent, i'll get back on track now).

ken and ellie. ellie caught on super quick that when she was cute she'd get candy. she'd grab it faster than lightening, not waiting for the person to give the candy to her.

grandma lynn holding riley.

the cutest baby ever in a strange hat. she's not sure what to make of it.

i'd like to say that abe's in this picture, but i don't see him. he's a shadow ninja and is so dark we can't see him. stelthy, that boy is. so sorry, i don't have a picture of abe. he's invisible.

me and riley at the end of the evening. we were super-dooper tired, and kinda glad to have halloween over with. after 4 parties and too much candy and too much getting ready and the thought of putting it all away just to turn around and pull christmas out...whew, who else is tired at the thought?
