...the fire warps your picture to make a cool effect.
...a marshmallow fits perfectly on a home-made skewer. (on a side note: see Abe's gross nose? Earlier that day we went to the public pool near our house, and Abe and Otho were enjoying jumping into the pool. Despite warnings earlier not to jump in backwards, Abe forgot and did so. He came up out of the water with blood gushing from his nose. I shouldn't have looked, but I did, and there was a huge open wound. Uck. I feel nauseous just thinking about it. Three hours and an emergency room later, Abe had two new stitches to add to his head-stitch count. This is his 4th major head wound, and hopefully his last.)
...you can use a knife to shave. Or not shave at all.
...the ground is littered with big sticks to make forts with, sword fight with, and look foward to whittling on when you're a cub scout (in 4 months).
...your little sister Sarah can come along and eat her weight in s'mores.
...despite the dirt and bugs, girls will still look like the diva princesses they are. (sorry about the blurry picture, but it was so cute of the two of them i forgave my poor picture taking-ness).
You know it's like camping when...there's a large fire and a jillion mosquitoes eating your legs.
But ha ha, it's not camping. It's our backyard. Yeah, don't you want to live out in the country like us so you can "camp" a couple of feet from your house? Then you can use a toilet. And sleep in a bed. With air conditioning.
On a side note... I took this picture of Ellie, and it reminded me of a 7-month Otho in Hawaii. Too funny. Also, Ellie is into doing her hair, so excuse the dozen flowers on her head in the picture.
